In his interview Michael discusses the symbology of the imagery in my works first came from folklores, mythologies, and fables. There is this idea that many of these ancient ideas had secrets to alchemy hidden within.

Rumplestilskin wove straw into gold. Frogs turn into princes. Mars, iron, planet, god; there is a whole language for alchemy in Greek mythology, for stones and metals. His jewelry is infused with the symbolism that is so present in his world and philosophy of living.

Marie Scarpa is an multiple award winner artist that applies textile making techniques to create unique woven jewelry. Each piece is a tiny tapestry embellished with brightly colored gemstones. This interesting combination give Marie Scarpas jewelry a sense of tradition and distinction.

Marie Scarpa began making jewelry in high school. After earning a BFA in metalsmithing from Syracuse University, she honed her skills working with several San Francisco Bay Area designer jewelers. I am in debt to the amazing Contemporary Jewelry Artists that have agreed to be interviewed and who have so graciously shared their time, work and knowledge.
